Our Muay Thai program hosts some of the most experienced instructors and coaches in the PNW, holding State and National titles, and including multiple time Muay Thai and WBA boxing world champion.

About Us
Prof. Kyle Mitchell
Kyle is the Owner and one of the instructors at VITAL Jiu Jitsu. He is an active competitor with over 15 years of experience. Notable accolades include IBJJF Open Champion, Fight2Win Veteran, GSUBX winner and Revolution double gold Champion (Purple-Black Belt). Kyle has been with MABJJ since 2008.
Kyle assists in teaching both our Adult Jiu Jitsu and Nogi programs.
Prof. Nick Ryan
Nick is the instructor at VITAL Jiu Jitsu for morning classes. He offers a wealth of knowledge to the sport. With over 15 years of combat sports experience including striking and MMA, Nick has notable wins over well-known veteran in the local circuit. Nick has been at MABJJ since 2009.
Nick assists with teaching Adults class along with our morning Jiu Jitsu program.
Prof. Jimmy Williams
Jimmy Williams is the first VITAL Jiu Jitsu black belt who has received every belt under the MABJJ Tacoma academy. Jimmy brings an extensive competition background in both striking and grappling to the academy with experience in the local MMA scene. Jimmy is our Saturday morning instructor.
Jimmy assists with teaching our Saturday morning classes.
Prof. Bladden Bushaw
Prof. Bladden has been with VITAL since blue belt early on in his jiu jitsu career. He quickly progressed through the ranks, while actively competing and building a solid foundation of fundamentals.
Before earning his Black Belt in 2022, Bladden had already cemented himself as a valued instructor within the academy, offering sound fundamentals and bringing his own personal take on modern styles to our students.
Prof. Gerry Weir
Prof. Gerry earned his Black Belt under the academy in early 2024 and has been
with us since 2016. Gerry is the Head Instructor
of our Kid's Jiu Jitsu program along with
assistant coach for our adult Fundamentals Jiu Jitsu.
Prof. Steve Davenport
Prof. Steve earned his Black Belt under the VITAL academy in early 2024.
Well before earning his black belt, Steve had become a valued member of our instructor team. Prof. Steve leads various fundamentals classes throughout the week along with our Sunday Jiu Jitsu.
